On October 1st, Dwayne and I quit smoking. I was (and still am) not thrilled about this at all. BUT, I took a long hard look into my future and heart clenchingly (is that a word?) imagined if Dwayne got cancer. I felt horrible, terrible and even though it wasn't happening, I felt like it was all my fault. I know Dwayne is a big boy and if he REALLY wanted to quit, then he could quit. But, I also know how impossible it is to quit when you are around another smoker.
So, here we are .. November 14th. Dwayne has not smoked, but I have had 2. I got into a fight with my dad and ended up having 2 with him a couple weeks ago.
Anyways, the point is, now that Dwayne and I quit smoking I am feeling the need to "cleanse" my body. I'm not gonna rush out and do a massive diet detox cleansing, but for now I am changing my diet a bit. The only way I could get Dwayne on board is to start cooking fish. (if I cook the fish, then he will eat salad!). I hate fish.
Dwayne went shopping today for our "new" menu items, along with 2 types of fish. Who knew Halibut was so freakin expensive???? Damn! $22 for 2 little hand sized pieces.
So, tonight was the first night of our new menu's. We gave it an 8 out of 10 (only because neither of us liked the potatoes) but we had:
Halibut with roasted red pepper dressing (home made of course!) baked with onions
Lemon broccoli
roasted potatoes
cucumber/tomato/green onion/feta salad
I never thought fish could be so filling! I could only eat half of it! It was yummy (to my surprise) Next we'll try a fine linguine seafood pasta with shrimp and scallops, then maybe some Haddock.
Cheers!
